I'm sure its easy to do BUT i always like to check the forum for a "how to" before i start a project. I cant seem to find a "How To: Shorty Console install" in the submissions or stickies by stone. didnt know if anyone had pictures or something along those lines. i just want to be sure of where Im drilling the bracket into the floor.

In my 03 Ranger std cab the front mount is there already, not sure if this is the case in all applications but for me it is.

The rear mount, I was going to drill through the floor and use ¼” bolts, a little longer than needed so I could mount s cable clamp to one side.
make sure there are no wires or lines of any type underneath before drilling.

The rear mount may also have indicators in the floor already but I didn’t find any on my truck.

I didnt think there was a shorty console install how to. thought it was a full length how to. you pretty much have to put it where you think its best, and then drill the brackets into the floor with self tappers. I cut up my carpet, and used bolts to hold mine down. then went under my truck and put a nut on the bolts with loctite. if it wasn't raining, I would go out and take it out to get some pictures.

EDIT: like scrambler said, their might be indicators. I think where I drilled holes to put my bolts, there was a circle indentation to indicate where it should go.

 

I have pics of my install I did last weekend in my Gallery. I just drilled bolted it down on the embossed section on the trans hump.

EDIT: Looks like the RF gallery is having some issues. You may or maynot be able to see my images i uploaded over the weekend.

 

yea nutin on the carpeting marking it out. ill have to see if i can get an idea when i go help my buddy pull all his shiz out of his wrecked truck later this week

 

What I did was used a punch to fine the slots and trimmed the carpet for the front clips. Then attached the bottom part of the console to the clips and set the armrest brace in the opening in the bottom the marked the carpet with a marker then trimmed the carpet out. That exposed the circular bosses in the sheet metal. My gallery is working now so take a look at the images and you'll see what I’m talking about.

 

Have you lifted the carpet, there may be the front mount to get it started ?
