My god, winter blend fuel is the pits. I get the absolute worst milage ever. I know these companies think they are doin us a favor by adding their winter "blends" so our fuel doesnt freeze. But damn, with the way it burns so fast and the combined high price. This is friggin ridiculous. Thats my rant. Thanks for reading.

 

Or because cold dense air requires more fuel. You can thank ethanol blends for killing fuel mileage.

Hi , In winter time I use 93 in my 06 Ranger with 4.0 . I get more mileage an more power when I need it an prevents slow starting that you get with 87 . I use 87 year round in my 2010 dodge caravan because it starts wright up on the coldest day , but gets 4 miles to the gallon less in winter time . Bud

 

And don't forget all the time and fuel spent idling to warm the truck up on cold mornings.

 

Of all the trucks i have owned, the ranger has the most drop in mpg in winter and is noticeable in my wallet, it drops about 6 to 8 mpg in the winter, and one of the main contributors is the winter fuel blend i think because it happened all the sudden one day in the fall. Same thing last winter and in the spring mpg went right back up. so thats just one more reason to look forward to the end of winter.

 

93 octane has a higher resistance to pre igniton than 87 does, meaning it burns slower. your vehicle in theory should start easier in the cold with 87 octane in it...i had a tank of 93 in my fairmont right when it started to get cold and you had to crank it for about 5 seconds to start

 

It's 100% oil hungry political fat cat BS. We pay into it, then pay twice too get it at the pumps. We have the largest oil reserves in the world here in North America. And we seem to be getting boned, hard. Why? Careful who you vote for i guess.

winter blend fuel is bull****. all they do is add a few more additives to the fuel that dont do anything. you can use your "summer" gas all year with the same result. all the winter blend does is make people believe the fuel companies are actually doing something different with their fuel

 

Some states have (or had) mandated e10 in all gas, all the time.
Retards in Oregon did this in 08. I think now it is optional in high octane, not sure. But its retarded hippy BS. Now the stupid hippies and government retards are pushing e15. Several states mandate b5 or better too, also less efficient than regular diesel.
Think about what will happen when food shortages happen.

 

this is why im glad there is a gas station near me that doesnt use any ethanol in their gas

 

now there is talk about about removing that mandate cause any amount of ethanol since ethanol does cause some damage
