Icon9 turbocharger advice needed

im installing an aftermarket turbocharger but i dont know the specs on how much psi the stock intake manifold on an 03 ranger edge 3.0 6c can take. if anyone can help me please let me know the info. minimal setting on the tc i want to get is 8psi but i want to know if the stock can take more boost than that max output on the charger states 480hp i wonder if the stock manifold can handle anywhere from 8-16 psi. please if anyone has info please post!

Well, generally, over 7 or 8 pounds in my experience is no good on any stock motor.

Except the few Honda's I've boosted, with a good tune those can take some boost.

The EGT's you'll see will be phenominal, that poor 3.0 will probably just melt, pistons, valves, everything will take a huge hit.

I ran my 2.3 Turbo coupe on 8psi stock on 93 octane, could never get it to run right, finally I melted the number 1 piston, and exhaust valve, and welded the spark plug to the head, stupid me, I went and tore it down and rebuilt it, ran it on 14psi everyday, dogged the hell out of it, never gave me a problem.

I'm not thinking you'll be able to do much with the 3.slow stock.

Then I'm thinking ill have to get the right internals then if I'm gonna be throwing min boost at 8psi I'd rather not destroy the stock internals thx for the input

8 would definitely be pushing it for these stock internals. Get forged internals and you can run it up pretty high.
But idk if the juice is worth the squeeze on these motors...some guy has run a remote mount turbocharger on his 4.0, try searching for that and see how he is doing...

Yeah, you might be better swapping in a V8, or a 4.0.

Or getting a 4.0 Ranger and boosting that.

Boost is fun, but when the motor can't handle it, it can be a pain.

I put more money into my Turbo Coupe than anything ever, motor wise that is. All because of that hunk of metal with a turbine inside. :-P

Eh, when you're talking any kind of forced induction, it's gonna be pricey.

Probably your best bet would be some sort of centrifugal setup, like a ProCharger or something.

It won't be cheap, not at all.
