I was changing my oil today and noticed some evidence of an oil leak/seepage on the drivers side as pictured below. The truck has about 130k miles on it, runs great and I've always used Mobil 1 from day one.

Any ideas where the oil could be leaking from? Anything to worry about?

I remember changing spark plugs a while ago and one of the plugs had some oil on the threads, can't remember which one though. That shock only has about 1,000 miles on it believe it or not.

What motor?Is that the driver or passenger side?I would check those brake line behind the shock.Check your brake fuild.

Edit:Nevermind its a 4.0 you posted in the 4.0 section.
Edit again:Im dumb just seen driverside in your post.

 

Yup 4.0 SOHC driver side. The master cylinder is full so I don't think it's brake fluid. Power steering fluid is full also. I'm pretty sure it's motor oil.

 

Well being a part time no education mechanic, I would lick it, and then describe the taste

smell it? orrrrrrr check the level of oil in the engine?

 

There's no evidence of oil leaking anywhere on the engine. I'm wondering if it could be from the shock absorber or differential fluid.

 

in that location i woudlnt rule out power steering fluid.

 

if i remember right thats around the area that the front diff breather is. i would bet its fluid from the diff.
