Distributor wont come out
Distributor wont come out
My distributor on my 93 ranger will not pull free. The hold down bolt and clamp have been removed but the distributor will only lift up about a quarter of an inch before it stops moving. Any ideas on why this is an issue? I feel like I'm missing something.
They can be a little finicky . Does the rotor turn slightly as you are pulling it ? It should turn about a half inch as it comes out.
Make sure you are pulling it straight up and not at any kind of an angle. Also spin it back and forth as some crud will have built up in the bore.
DO NOT PRY ON IT !
It should come out with hand force only.

I had to wiggle and pry on it slightly to get it to come loose, 30 minutes of wiggling and a bit of prying and its out now. I hope I didnt screw anything up by doing that but that thing was really stuck! Now its down to getting the heads off and sent on the the machining facility to have cleaned pressure tested and shaved a bit. Thanks for the input!
