Icon4 Taurus fan in '96 ranger amps drop

Ok i know that when i instaled the electrical taurus fan in my 4.0 ranger (after taking out the manual one) i was gonna have a power drop. but is the power dop to much to where i need to up grade to a larger alt or can i keep my stock? Also do I need to put a relay? The way I have it wired in is a simple ground to ground and positive to 40amp fuse to on/off baseball bat switch back to positive battery terminal.

The switch is rated for 100 amps. What if i wire in a solenoid that is made to run that many amps non stop, instead of a relay?

if its rated for continous 100A, I dont see why not. If u do run a relay, get a 60A or bigger. Are you just running a single speed? Low or high?

Yea its rated for 100A continous. im just running it on high, but if im driving around ill have it off cause of the air thats moving through but if im stuck at a long light or sitting in traffic then ill kick it on.

Why are you baby sitting the fan instead of running a fan controller?

The truck will handle the interment current draw at a stop fine. Lights may dim but that is why the battery is there.

If you have extra audio or lighting then you will need to upgrade the alt to handle the new loads. The truck can handle one constant power draw of around 40 amps beyond the stock equipment. Any more you will run out of juice from the alt and lean on the battery. For the fan you will be ok.

fan controller wont handle the taurus fan from what I remember reading here. Most people wire up their own harness to tun this fan. Im selling my efan and harness if youre interested.
