2005 die and no start

Recently my brother in laws ranger suddenly shut offf on him, he said he was driving up hill and was running fine then sputtered quick and shut off. a friend told him it wasd the fuel pump, we replaced the pump and filter and the pump is turning on and fuel is going through the lines but still wont start. If I keep hitting the throttle i can keep it running a little bit and my scan tool reads a lean fuel trim. no dtcs are being set. if trying to start without hitting throttle can hear a lot of air being sucked in through the intake almost seems like too much for idle. any ideas? stuck open egr? bad idle air control motor? bad throttle position sensor? not sure ifs a 3.0 or 4.0 but can find out if needed.

checked the inertia switch and all is good also i have power at the fuel pump upon initial key om, i talked to tech at ford and they saidit was probably the IAC motor so we replaced that and no difference. I called my other friend at ford and he said it could be the fuel pump driver module however i cannot find where this is or how to test it nor can I find it in a wiring diagram. any help finding or diagnosing this would be great, wiring diagrams are helpful as well as alternate names. pictures welcome also

thanks
