3.0 bad valve

My CEL is on and I have already replaced the plugs, wires and coil pack. I took my truck to a mechanic today and they ran a compression test. I was told I have a bad valve. He quoted me at $1400 to have it and the other 5 cylinders repaired. He suggested that I just spend $1600 to pay for a replacement used engine (with 80,000-100,000 miles on it) fully installed, but with only a 30 day warranty.

To be honest I am not very knowledgeable about auto repairs to this extent and don't want to make an ill advised decision when it comes to this amount of money. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks guys

you can snag a replacement engine for pretty cheap. if you have the time, do it yourself. you'll save a lot of money.
