BL on a 03 Edge questions

OK SO a guy told me it was a bad idea. To sell the truck and find a XLT to do it to. What gives? He says there is something about the front bumper that is a pain in the azz?
I looked last night and could not find anything and seeing the variety of rangers lifted on here you guys should now. I did find out that a 03 ranger brushgaurd will not fit. You have to order one specific to a ranger edge. Is this the pain in the azz he is getting confused with...

If anyone has pictures of the process on a edge can you guys point me in the direction of that person? I have the New front bumper in the garage now. Ordering the lift on christmas eve. Two weeks after that I am ordering the new rear bumper and already have the front (doing chrome when I do the lift). Wheels two weeks after that and then tires.

Do I need to change out the torsion keys??? I see a set on Ebay all the time that states "larger torsion keys than stock" What the hell is that? Will the cranking of the torsion keys make that big of a difference?

Definatly a spring project. By then I will have my taxes if I need to do anything else. (5.0 swap would be ninja)

I'm not really sure what you are asking. You don't have torsion keys you have torsion bars. You can crank them for a few inches in the front but the ride will be worse and will ruin front end parts faster.

You can use the same brushguard that fits an XLT because I have an '02 and it was made for the Edge as well. How much lift do you want? There are already spacers on the rear on the Edge and if you just wanted a little lift, I would just do the front end for now, see how it looks and then you could change it later. There are some threads on here about what to do with your bumper if you do a body lift.

The question was, If I do a 3" body lift to my edge, is there anything special I need to buy or have done or even look for when getting the kit?

A guy told me last night that it was a hell of a lot easier to do a XLT model truck because of something they changed on the edge trucks? Looking at it and the one across the street though they are the same except for the lower valance on the bumpers. The xlt has the top chrome bumper and mine is painted that is the only difference I see?

If you have a 4X4 it will be different because XLT's are primarily 2-wheel drives and they have coil springs up front versus torsion bars.

i body lifted my 02 edge... didnt have any problem here... the kit came with bumper relocation brackets for the front and rear... i dont know about much easier it could get... i havnt seen much difference in a 4x4 xlt or 2wd/4wd edges suspension wise.

Well I have not either... I think I am going to go ahead and do it. I ordered a add a leaf for the rearend last night.
If you guys could take a look at these kits and let me know if there is really a difference I would appreciate it!
This kit looks to use the hoops in the rear to lift the bed up? I have only seen these one other time.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Performance-...item483bcebf65

This one however looks to use the heavier plastic/rubber pieces? Can anyone verify that? I would much rather have those than the hoops?
http://www.ebay.com/itm/70033-01-10-...item4842c9de18

and is it necessary to change the torsion keys? I keep seeing torsion lift keys? My front end is sagging now so I was thinking of changing these. Good idea or bad Idea. I also saw that there was a set of front 2" lift coil springs. Thought about getting those instead...

Help please.

Both of those kits are the same...both are even listed as part #70033. That's the part number from Performance Accessories which makes at least 90% of the body lift kits.

No, it's not needed for a body lift. A body lift is just that...it "lifts the body". No suspension is changed. Also, to confirm what was already mentioned above, nothing different is needed to body lift an Edge version. I also have one...and everything worked 100%.

Now, if you want to mess with the torsion bars cause it's sagging or you want additional "lift"..that's a different topic.

Whoever said that it's harder to do a BL on an Edge is an idiot. Don't listen to them. There is nothing different about an Edge than an XLT. People...

False, Edge 4x4 and XLT 4x4 are the same, XLT 2x4 are coil sprung.......
