difficulty removing a harmonic balancer
difficulty removing a harmonic balancer
I have a 2004 Ford Ranger 4.0 where the harmonic balancer has gone bad. The rubber in between the metal is gone. I obtained the harmonic balancer removal kit from Auto Zone however the screws in the kit are a hare too short, it fits until you add the bracket. The original harmonic balancer is metal pressed on. Has anyone had to replace theirs? If so how did you remove the balancer?
mine did this about a yr ago with like 40k on it & ford wont recall um the mustang 4.0's are doing it too go figure ford is going down hill....as far as the bolts like mentioned above the hardware store & for the long 1 in the center if its to short put your crank bolt back in just a half way then start working it out from there
i had the same problem all you need is nuts to fits on the end of those bolts and get your finger through the center hole and put them on just the first piece of metal and pull it out... and if you find that the harmonic balancer moved back into the crankshaft postition sensor then i would get one from carquest. it hap[pen to me and i got one from canadian tire and it did not work right.
