might be doing some swiming tomorrow in the truck

I am going to my farm tomorrow then going to arkansas friday morning, right now the river I cross like 3 times to get to my farm is just under the bridge. I may do some "swiming" in the truck lol (I will get out and check depth as much as I can before I attempt it and if I dont feel comfortable, I will go the back way lol)

I need to get in the back fields down there but I dont think ill be able to, so ill probally just settle one some fishing and target practice with some turtles.

Also, quick question to make this a useful thread, how much dirt would one expect to be able to haul in the back of a 2wd ranger? I have alot of dirt work I need to do after I bust up a concrete slab at my house. I have access to ALOT of dirt for free, I just have to haul it.

I've filled my bed about halfway with gravel, and had no problems.

Not sure but I have seen something on here saying no higher than the center of the wheels.

I've gone up to my headlight panel in water without too much problem. My fan belt started chattering and I got muddy water on my air box, but no real damage. This in a stock ranger, but I wouldn't make a habit out of it. Just don't hit it going like 20 mph and you should be fine lol.

If it's running over the bridge you better be carefull it will be running and can wash up into things it shouldn't, can wash you away if it's pretty fast over the bridge.

im am 4x4... and my rear springs look like warped W's... with no tension of the spring, the axle hanging 'free' they look like W's... LOL

I have, in the past, hauled some where in the ball park of 2,000lbs in the bed. However I would not advise this course of action, borrow or buy a trailer...with that said, the ranger can not safely, tow anything thats rated class V... this I have alos experienced first had. you want to load the truck, then watch for the bump stops which are hard rubber shims on the frame above your leafs... you want to keep at the very least 1" of travel...

I believe the 4x4 ranger has a bed cap of 600Lbs... which seems about right, however I have far exceeded that limit on more than a dozen occasions, which explains my current 'leaf' issue. Also, keep in mind that the handling and response both in throttle and braking, drastically changes when the truck is overloaded... However if your distance is short, of semi smooth roads, with minimal traffic, you should be ok to load up the ranger. its a capable little truck that many have dismissed as 'too small' to handle it... Everything I have asked my ranger to do, it has done... and in the past 5 years, I have pushed some of those limits, to the limt

Well we had a change of plans last minute, I didnt drive through the mountians in the ranger, instead we all piled into my buddies dually and we went driving. As promised here are the pics.

http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?s...1&l=085d155d21

These were all taken with my phone, Samsung Galaxy S2,

My favorite pics from the trip are the following

This from where I was standing to where the grass is, was approx a 500ft drop.

and this

this one has a red tailed hawks nest in the tree, if you look close you can see it, but it didnt come out as good as I wanted it to.

Sorry if the images are HUGE on your screen, my computer auto resizes, not sure if anyone elses does, if they are huge, let me know and I will just leave links to them
