Starting and push button 4wd 1993 splash 4.0

I have replaced the starter (actually had it professionally rebuilt), was starting the truck, and it just cut out. Now makes a single "click" more like a "tock" type sound and wont turn over. Any ideas? How do I check/verify?

Also: the truck seems to be stuck in 4wd. I press the push button 4wd in cab, and no indicator light goes on, and it does not indicate that it is on otherwise. Any ideas? and again how do I troubleshoot it??

Thank you very much

Hi Josh I would check the ground wire at both ends for the starter prob. Take the shift motor off and manually shift it to 2wd. Here is a link to the shift motor, I would also add a piece of rubber hose on the bump stop. 3/16th i think. The factory plastic breaks off. Its a preety easy fix done mine last yr. Good luck! Let us know how ya make out. http://therangerstation.com/tech_lib...shiftmotor.htm
