Icon10 Help on my first purchase

Hey guys, ive been a big fan of rangers for awhile and ecspecially ranger edges. I found one the other day that was exactly what I wanted, im just worried I might be over paying. Just wondering if you guys might be able to help me out. Its a 2003 with 85,000 miles, the interior is in OK condition. The plastic in the armrest is broken and the truck has a slight smell of smoke to it. It also looks like it was owned by someone in construction or a job similar to that. It has a rough bed liner and has some paint stains on the liner as well. The paint has some scratches on the side as well. Theyguy said he would take my offer of 7400 but now im worried i should have offered less. Ill post a link to the car so you can take a look for yourself. Thanks in advance, i appreciate it.

I paid $9400 (before GAP insurance, etc.) in 2006 for my 2002 2WD regular cab edge with 36k. Don't know if that helps but that is what I paid. The two main things to check on the 3.0 near that mileage is the camshaft syncronizer and the timing chain cover can cause a coolant leak (so I have heard, search a little bit and you will probably find a thread on it somewhere).

2WD?

PASS!!!

You can get a 4x4 for a 4.0 for about the same price... that's too much IMO.

I got my '03 Edge about 3-4 years ago and I paid 9K but fully loaded, clean interior, 4.0L 4x4, and mine is an extended cab 4-door.

Too much money, imo. Dealerships have been jacking the price up on these things because they don't make them anymore. At least here they have. The near by Ford dealer has a 2012 2wd Ranger....manual windows and locks for 24k. WAAYYYYY high imo.

I wouldn't pay a dime over 6k for it.

KBB has it at this price in Excellent condition...so I guess what you offered isn't bad. But a lot of vehicles aren't selling for what KBB suggests them at. I still wouldn't pay over 6-6.5 for that specific truck if it is in average or below condition (smells like smoke, beat up bed, interior dirty with paint, exc)

Like the others have said it is way to high. Something in the $5,500-$6,000 range would be way more acceptable.
