2004 4.0 Castor SC kit question
2004 4.0 Castor SC kit question
So under full boost (6psi) the I hear a loud squeak( the belt I guess) and the battery light is coming on momentarily . can some one explain whats happening here..
Sweet. Is that chrome inlet the one that is included now with the RP kit or did you come up with that yourself? And I'm curious, when you bought the SC, did you just bolt it on or rebuild it first? I have bought one already, it seems to be fine but I was planning on rebuilding it. Maybe I could get away with just bolting it on and rebuilding it later. Did you resolve your belt issue?
Here is mine. Not very pretty. I wanted to rebuild/powdercoat it but maybe I will just spray paint it temporarily and bolt it on.

Exactly - being cheap when dealing with forced induction is not the way to go.
It looks to be in rough shape, it's better to go over everything first.

As far as the belt issue goes, im leaning towards with what another member pointed out, the belt tensioner.. that seem like the likely offender. Ill change it out regardless as it is a normal wear and tear item
Paid $199 for it. It came as pic below. I was hoping to order the parts and rebuild it myself. All of the mating surfaces appear to be in good shape. I think something just got on it that ate up the paint.
Magnum Powers rebuilds the M90 for $300. Does anyone have any recommendations for a place that rebuilds the M90's? Charles @ Magnum Powers just returned my email and said I could have my unit powder coated for an additional $150. This seems a little high to me since the unit is so small. What do you guys think, is $150 reasonable?

whenever the time comes, i'm just gonna send mine off to supercharger technologies and have them send me a rebuilt and refinished one. They're down in FL
"The $300 includes the nose rebuild and replacement of the rear rotor bearings, the ones back by the intake port. We do offer complete rebuild of the rotor pack; including a new bearing plate that incorporates Gen 5 type trapped air vents, new bearings and seals for an extra plus the rotor are coated with an abradive coating for $550, the coating increases the efficiency of the supercharger. We replace the coupler if worn. We can remove and replace the supercharger pulley or replace it with a smaller one if you want, selection of sizes available for $130."
I'm not entirely clear if the cost is $550 total for the new rotor pack or if it's $550 plus the $300. Surely it's not $850 but I need to find out about this. Opinions, would it be worth it for the upgraded rotors, or should I just stick to the standard rebuild for $300? Is $150 reasonable for powder coating?
I wanted to rebuild the unit myself but I really don't have all the tools I need. Hoping to send this thing off sometime in the next couple of weeks.

I found the price for Supercharger Tech but not clear on what's included in the rebuild. Sending them an email now. Also not sure what the finish is. Powder coat? Here's the latest info I've got from Magnum Powers:

Best to have one fresh and reliable..and have it done for you.Read this..kinda funny
Why you shouldn't rebuild your supercharger
If I go with exchanging my M90 with one from Supercharger Tech it will be about $50 cheaper. $400 with a new finish. I sent them an email 2 days ago asking about what is included in the rebuild but still haven't got an answer.
