Post the best mpg you've ever got in your 4.0
Im looking to see the city/highway i wanna find what 31s with 410 and a manual get with a tuner im looking to get a mileage tune when i get one with this exact setup i do mostly city just curious post up your MPG !!! with your setup from gearing to mods !!
The best I ever got was just over 20 mpg on a 4,000 mile trip that I took last November. I did not get it every fillup but did get it several times. That was driving about 72 mph with 31" Michelin LTX MS tires. My typical mileage at around 75 mph is 18 mpg.
My best tank ever was 23mpg driving like a little old lady with nothing in the bed, no tailgate and no spare tire. 4.0sohc 4.10 gears 31" BFG ATs with 45psi. I'm thinking I could get better with normal street tires.
Lately been getting 16.5-17 on a full tank (mixed city/highway). This is with 285's, 4.10s, and tuned. I hardly ever go over 65 on the interstate as well.
However, the best I ever got was from TN to NC cruising 65-70 and got 18.6 when I filled up in NC.

Hey im looking for for fred at rouges active email i have his site and facebook and ive emailed him but havent got a response does anyone have the email he actually uses i think for some reason the one im finding isnt working and does anyone know where is he located im obviously in washington and im looking to get a tune just trying to find the best way to go about getting a custom tune
bout 21 on the highway, 3.73's 32's, tuned, exhaust, and intake. two passengers and a bed cover. running between 65-75 the whole time. on a 500 mile trip from home to school. in town i get 15 no matter what. unless its winter. then i get 12
before the tuner you're looking at about 15.8 city if you drive like a maniac /19.5 highway with a whole lot of cruise control. What good is a tuner though on a ranger with a manual transmission? I'm not familiar with what you can and cannot change on our trucks... but most of the guys on here just play around with shift points and try and keep a light(er) foot.

If I drive at 60 i’m not too bad but at 65 I can almost watch the gas gauge go down.
Im not sure ive just been told fred at rogue can make a good tune and help with mileage i asume they can change air to fuel and timing according the mods like exhaust and intake but im not sure im trying like a grandma and getting around 15.2 city and it sucks other people are saying 19 and i wanna get that lol
Tuning is good but your truck is trying to pull 33” on 4.10 gears, it will be working harder than a truck with 4.56 gears and 33”.
I will be going to 4.56 if my other plans fall through.
Add an air intake system and tune the he!! out of the chip and still get bad milage, then you need to get it together and get it all done, re-gear both diffs, add in some headers and open up the exhaust pipe.
And as I stated in another thread along this lines see about free wheeling the front hubs.
19.6 MPG Highway - Brand new highway tires, 400 lbs of salt in the bed, one passenger
2008 Ranger XLT
4.0L SOHC V6
5 Speed Auto with Overdrive
4x4
I figure the salt added up and made the mileage go down because I usually average around 15 MPG in the city so my highway should be better
