Air Intake

Hey ya'll I have been wanting to put some kind of air intake system on my truck Some people reccomend a k&n system but the only problem with that is the price. having very little money sucks. a friend of mine was telling me to kinda rig something up buy taking out the box the stock air filter sits in and attach one of the cone shapped filters to the end of the hose. will this work? HELP!!!!

Most all of air intake systems are the SAME, Yes, even though they may look different and cost more, they all pretty much will give you the same results.....So instead of paying too much for a K&N, look for less expensive intake systems.....MAC systems are nice, and dont cost too much.

You could set up one of those cone filters, but the primary benefit of the intakes is the smooth air tube as opposed to the bumpy ribbed stock one. Find a way to make the air travel with less turbulence and you'll get the same effect. I'm with Mark, a MAC intake would be a good choice.

i got a k&n cone filter... got a honda civic aluminum tube for like $10(on sale) from autozone... worked real good. was loud.

but ended up going back to stock w/ just a k&n filter... didn't like the ricer look.

later on, i might go to another aftermarket intake.

there are a ton of different ones out there.

see if searching the forums will help you.

Look on ebay, there's new ones, K&N and AEM shipped for just around 200$. You could get a cheap cone filter and an adapter for around 30 or so i believe, the filter is cheap quality wise though.

honda ones work with 3.0??? i thought it was jsut the 2.3s it worked with.... do you have a pics of your set up and which tube it was

you can find 4.0 intakes for around 100$ on ebay if you look, mostly the same as k&n jsut cheaper filter....

got my intake off ebay, was like 30 bux, for "option racing" intace, had cone filter and metal tubing, only problem is that theres rubber attaching the pipes thats ribbed, but i replaced the filter that came with it w/ a much larger k&n filter, but i gotta tell you it sounds awesome, best money i've spent.
