Just ordered MagnaFlow's dual rear exit kit for my 2004 Fx4 (Part number 15773). Hoping to pick it up and get it put on in the next few days.

If anyone has installed this system on their truck I would really appreciate any suggestions or advice. I've got the stock hitch on the back, should I anticipate any clearance issues?

Not really. Got the system installed without issue. The clearance around the spare tire was OK but a little tighter than I'd like so I cut about 1" off the section of pipe between the cats and the muffler to increase the clearance so I didn't have to worry about melting my spare. The hitch was no problem and didn't get in the way at all.

Easy install. Worst part was cutting off the old rotten flange on the cat and welding on a new one. Really happy with the system, sounds great!

 

Just installed mine today. Such a nice deep sound

That's great! I was only really worried about the hitch anyway. My spare tire lives in my bed cause it won't fit under the truck.

 

It does take some fiddling to get it to fit right around the hitch, but shouldn't be a problem once you get everything adjusted properly. I have about 1/2-3/4" between the chrome tips and hitch.

 

My ranger 04 fx4 has a different towing hitch than that on. Its bigger and has a little more of a flange that sticks out of the sides some more. I will have to a picture and post later, but I am hoping to do some research before buying the 15773. Does anyone else know of an installation issue With the 15773 around the fx4 model towing hitch? I will let you know how it goes if I buy and install.

 

Fits fine with a stock Fx4 hitch.

 

So I got my magna flow exhaust installed, however I do want to let others know that if they have the FX4 model truck with the towing hitch thats bigger than the xlt then you may not like they way its going to install. Its not a really good fit for the FX4 model. I have 2004 Ford Ranger and I would recommend the side pipes. The reason why it doesn't fit the FX4 model ranger is because the towing hitch is a little wider and extends out past the leafs on the truck. So what I mean is look at the back of your truck. Just like you are looking at the tail gate.Then look at how far over the towing hitch goes from left to right. You will see right on the edges both left and right that your pipes can not fit on the outside edges of the towing hitch, because the pipes can not be run through your rear tires or suspension. So your pipes will have to be run right underneath your towing hitch. Which after you run them you will see that the pipes are not straight from the view of your truck at a side angle. This kinda sux cause it makes your exhaust job look kinda sh*tty. In other words keep your towing hitch and have the pipes point at an angle down or remove the towing hitch and have them look straight in the spot they were designed for. Its unfortunate. I will post pictures soon of what I mean, so stay tuned.

 

I upload the pics of the truck exhaust. You can see how the exhaust can not come out any more due to the suspension. You may also see how I had to stretch the exhaust lower so it could hang bellow the tow hitch. However you can also so what it did to the rubber in the one picture. Looks like I will be replacing that now.
