Best exhaust?

What do you guys think? I have a 2000 4.0 5 speed and while it sounds nice as is, im looking to get a real exhaust. I want something thats deep and sporty, but not too loud. I want it to be noticeable, but not too annoyingly loud. What systems or setups do you guy think is good? I was looking at the flowmaster dBX and a magnaflow single catback. I prefer a single catback.

Thanks!

I've got the MBRP kit and the drone is kinda annoying. I am debating about adding pipe to lengthen it right to the bumper

Ive looked at that kit before. Ive heard it has an annoying drone. Exiting the pipe straight out the back helps a little. The further the muffler is to the front, the more the sound resonates and is smoother, and the further it is to the back, the more aggressive it sounds. I used to have an explorer 5.0 with a true dual magnaflow that went out the back. It sounded aggressive out the back, but for a dualled v8, it wasnt all too bad inside. So that may help alittle, but see about getting a resonator. Ive seen resonator exhaust tips before.

I loved my mbrp. I didn't notice any drone. I'm assuming you have then turndown? Angle the tip to the side.

I'm just running no muffler now though. Mbrp is definitely the best sounding though.

Thats it. Turndowns make more interior drone due to being so close to the front. Just running a tailpipe out the back will take care of that. Like i said, the longer the tailpipe and the closer the muffler is to the front, the more it resonates the sound and sends it out the back, thus less interior drone. But other that that, what do you think of how it sounds?

Yea, morris said he has a Turndown. That explains it. But other than that how loud is it?

I have a Flowmaster Original 40 SI/SO.. can't stand the drone. If I had to do it again I would probably go with a Magnaflow.

The flowmaster super 44 sounds nice on v6 rangers. Just very loud. Too loud for my application. The 40 is more for v8's.

Great! I just listened to a few on YouTube. I like it. I found a few online for around 300-350 bucks. Not crazy expensive either.

For DIY bolt ons I got the Magnaflow offroad turn down. Its all stainless steel and straight though. Running it on my 2009 Ranger Sport V6 4.0 There is some drone. But for $325 It's a nice exhaust. I'm happy with it. Not exactly the sound I wanted. But its a no frills, solid exhaust.

The Mbrp kit is quiet at idle. When you get on it is when you notice it, any rpm after 3000 is when it starts to drone.

Look on Amazon, I found it cheaper there then on MBRP's site. Kinda dissapointing since they are 6 hours north of me in Canada.

So far the only exhaust I've heard that I like is the Dynomax cat back. Its pretty mild.

Thats what I like. Something that isnt too loud unless i get on it. I almost never reach 3000 rpm normally. That ranger has so much torque that i can shift at 2000-2500 and still haul past people!
