ok so im looking into putting hid kit in my 04 ranger. in google searchs i came across this kit. HID Xenon + 01-11 Ford Ranger Pickup Euro Crystal Headlights - Black
it comes with what appers to be everthing i would need. has anyone used this kit or this company? it seems like a decent deal put would like to have some feedback before i drop that much money. thanks in advanced

 

Don't be THAT GUY and buy a plug and play kit. Save your money and do a true HID retrofit.

HIDs need to be in a projector and one made for them. Definitely not in a reflector housing that blinds the crap out of everybody.

I'll agree with Shelton on that. To properly do it, you do want projectors. However, projectors are expensive, I'll side with you on that. Not to mention retrofitting your existing housings can lead to more problems than it solves, but projectors in one way or another are the proper way to do it.
Honestly, if you're going to get projectors, I'd just get a premade projector headlamp, but that's just me.

If you still want a kit that is plug and play but won't blind the crap out of everybody, go for an LED headlight kit like I bought. Took me less than an hour to install. It installs exactly the same way an HID kit installs, but is LED instead.

100 bucks, has everything you need and doesn't blind everyone. Everyone wins.

Or, if you'd rather not spend that kind of money but still want better performance, go for the Sylvania Silverstar Ultra bulbs, I believe they're called. They're halogen bulbs still, but they're a good OEM replacement. My father runs them in his Ranger and they seem to do rather well.

 

How bright are the leds compared to hids?

 

The LEDs i'd say are just as bright if not brighter, and are also more effective. Check out my buildlog for pics. They don't really do them justice, but you can see the potential.

 

Post a picture of the led output, not a picture face via the headlights, something projecting up against a wall or something 20-25' away... I'm curious to see how much lighter is scattered everywhere.

Something worth noting with this kit that I'm running, is the beam is not like a halogen bulb where you have one concentrated point and shadowing around. It's rather like a flashlight instead.

At this point in time, being broad daylight, this is the best photo I have. The white garage door makes it look a whole lot worse than what it really is. I'll back down to the end of the driveway tonight and take a better photo.

 

Again, white house and an equally white garage door.
