2001 edge passenger door ajar

This 4 door has a problem that the gray/red wire shows a short to ground triggering door ajar. The switch in the door is OK the wiring into the cab molex connector is OK, this wire should have 12 volts on it. It reads a short to ground on the cab side of the connector. Has anyone had this problem?

Thank You,
Barry

Something isn't adding up. If a wire (any wire) that is supposed to have 12 volts on it and has a short to ground, a fuse should go someplace.

Thank you for your reply. replacement of a section of 18 inches of the gray/red wire from the molex connector inside the cab to the gem module resolved the problem.

Food for thought; the door switches on the Ranger are switched on the ground side of the circuit. It's being triggered because it's likely grounding out on the metal itself, which the body is always pulled to ground.
