The bed canopy on my (new to me) ranger has lost almost all the clear coat on the top (see pics). I have a primitive idea of what I wanna do to try and make it presentable, but I'm curious if anyone on here has their own cheap, easy, "quick" ways of repairing these paint issues. Obviously clear coat out of a spray can shot in my garage isn't going to get me a factory finish, but I want it to be better then what it is now.
You could use a pressure washer to get as much of the peeling areas cleaned off as possible and then brush on a clear urethane to seal the edges and use spray clear coat on open areas, or continue with urethane and brush
Make sure surface is not too hot, brush lines will go flat, go away, as urethane is pulled flat by gravity if it doesn't dry too fast
You want it nice? Have it sanded down and painted and clear coated. At that point you're almost better off buying a new one. You want cheap? I've seen some videos that have had some minor success with a polish compound on a buffer and a good wax. The previous comment will work to some extent, but if you have edges and differing heights in the clear coat you will be able to see it if the light catches it right.
