I'm thinking about getting a cheap 4x4 as a second vehicle and for heavy snow. A guy about 45 minutes away is selling a 86 Ranger 4x4 with a 2.9L V6 and an automatic transmission. Supposedly, it runs and drives okay and supposedly was a farm truck for the first 25 years of its life and has low mileage (approx 125K) . The guy is asking $1350, so I'm not expecting it to be perfect by any means, but I don't want a piece of junk either. Beside the usual stuff (ATF color, oil, frame rust), is there anything specific to these models I should be looking for?
