Cold here in Reno, moving slowly as temp allows. Looking ahead, I wanted to ask about installing intake manifold gasket... should I pre-shape it or lay it down and let weight of intake form it? And, should I use some RTV around the cooling ports?

And... this one is dumb... but when I took this engine apart, there was a lot of grease and oil caking it. Seems there are some spacers used in the power steering bracket. Couldn't find any resource to help me position that. (yes, I can eyeball what seems to be straight, just wanna get ahead of it). and... there are these square washers???? What the heck?
