Air in clutch cylinder?
Air in clutch cylinder?
I have an 02 Ranger XLT w man train. I seem to have trouble with air in clutch mechanism. I trebled and transferred shop trebled. On my way home clutch wouldn't let me put in gear except much force. When almost home it worked again. I put new clutch and slave cyl along w rebuilt eng prior to this. After I finally got links out it worked about 1k miles and now this air issue. I am not a natural mechanic at all.
Is this supposed to "pre-bled and transmission shop pre-bled"
I see no mention of the clutch master cylinder being replaced,
The intermittent working you are describing is a classic symptom of a failing clutch master cylinder.

Air issues
Sir, thank you very much. I copied and pasted and didn't double check spelling, sorry. I did bleed prior to taking to tranny shop and they bleed as well. I also put a new slave cylinder in along w new clutch. However, I did not put new master cylinder in as you suggest. Thnx.
As said before, an intermittent problem like that is very indicative of the master cylinder going bad. I had this same problem on my 02 when it was still under warranty. The dealer replaced the master and the problem went away.
