Panel lights and heat issues
Panel lights and heat issues
Hi everyone
While I'm waiting for some replacement parts to arrive (Ford Ranger Splash 1995 V6 3.0l ), I started to work on the interior of my truck, several lights of the instrument panel and heater panel are off, so I started with the heater control panel, I found that the two 194 (5W?) incandescent bulbs where ok but one was loose and the other had a broken socket. All fixed! the lights works nice and I was happy, but before I even try the instrument cluster I noticed that the heat control panel with the lights on is getting alarmingly hot (lights where not dimmed on the control, because I like it bright), in the two spots were the bulbs are you can not lay a finger for more that a couple of seconds.
I want to ask if this temperature issue is normal?, its almost burning hot on these two spots.
I'm worried because I think the excess of heat may burn / deform / discolor or crack the plastic panel over time.
The bulbs are in the correct position in the sockets.
I could not find any useful information regarding heat issues related to panel illumination, just the advertising to put LEDs because they run supposedly cooler. I don´t want to switch to LEDs because I like the original color.
Any input will be appreciated.
Thanks.
