I think I can shed some light on this one.
About 12yrs ago I had an 06 FX4 and tuned it myself using SCT Pro racer. At the same time I had a 2002 Lighting w/a blower and nitrous and I was tuning it too.

On the FX4 I used the stock fuel & ignition system to support a 70 dry shot of nitrous. Injector duty cycle was maxed out at that power level but everything else seems to be ok. Trans was holding fine too.

From what I recall the newer 4.0L could only take about a 80-90hp increase w/o getting into strengthening the long block. I tried shooting a 90 shot but the stock fuel system was just not able to keep up.

To to it all again.. I would NOT have changed a thing. I ramped a 70shot of nitrous for about 1 second which made the power come on smoothly and not shock everything.
A turbo would be my 2nd choice. And a blower w/intercooler would be my last.

If you search for my screen name here at RF... I'm sure there are many posts I made about what I was doing.
If you'd like PM me.

Regards, Rich
