What's it worth? My 1998 Ranger XLT

Hello all,

Requesting your guidance please on a reasonable selling price for my truck. It's a 1998 Ford Ranger XLT, regular cab, white color with matching toolbox, 5-speed manual transmission, 4-cylinder, 2WD, crank windows, manual locks.

The good: My family is the original owner and we took great care of it. The truck still looks great, tires in great condition, clutch replaced recently, and some other recent replacements under the hood: alternator, radiator, spark plugs and wires.

The not so good: A/C does not work. A tiny stream of water is able to get in under dash somewhere, near the pedals, during a rain. It has 247,000 miles on it.

Thank you very much!
Kyle

In my opinion, it depends on what the supply/demand is for your area. Looking online 98 XLT RWDs average from mid $2000s to $5000. With what you provided, you could get around $3500, but if you fix the A/C and the water issue you might be able to get a bit more. I don't know about your area, but where i'm at the Rangers are in demand, so you never know.

Welcome to the forum

Yes, +1 ^^^

What some thing is worth, any thing really, is what a buyer will pay for it, not up to the seller at all

So "ask" what you want for it, and if no one calls then lower the price an "ask" again, once you sell it you will know what its worth

Good advice to look at your local craigslist and autotrader to see what similar pickup owners are ASKING for their vehicle

I agree. It's worth ever how much the person looking at it 'wants' it :)
