Moddbox supercharger owners
Hey guys, I'm getting ready to order the Moddbox supercharger kit for my 07 Ranger. I already got a freshly rebuilt blower from a 94 Thunderbird SC but I still need to order the install kit, meth system, injectors, wideband A/F gauge, & tuning. Aaron has been pretty helpful to me over there but I was wondering if any of you guys have installed it and what your driving impressions of this setup are? I would like to put their intercooler kit on but they don't make it anymore so it looks like I will stick with the meth injection. Biggest thing I'm having trouble deciding is on how much boost to run. The base kit comes with a 3.5 psi pulley that doesn't require any tuning or fuel system upgrades so its quite a bit cheaper to do it that way. You can also do something a little more aggressive, all the way up to 9-10 psi. I'm leaning towards running the 8psi pulley, and I'm wondering if its worth the added expense of having to get injectors and a MAF etc. to go with more boost. I will probably get tuning from LaSota either way. Just wondering if maybe there's somebody out there that started with the base kit and then upgraded later that could tell me if it was worth it or not. My truck is a 4x4 5 speed, 3.73 gears rolling on 285/70/17s, so im really looking forward to that big increase in low end torque. I use the truck for camping quite a bit and just cruising around having fun with it, I don't really tow with it. Let me know guys. Thanks.
I have been wondering the same thing all year. I just purchased an oval port S/C from a ‘93 T-bird for my sons ‘09 Ranger. Had the Moddbox kit in my cart a few times during some of their sales lately but just couldn’t pull the trigger yet, holidays zapped us as usual. Hopefully by March I can make the purchase. Another financial reason is we just took this truck through stage one of it’s rehab/resto. Fresh reman engine, all accessories, new exhaust from the JBA headers, cats, MBRP stainless exhaust. I slightly upgraded the injectors due to this future mod, @ 24lbs/hr. Read somewhere is less than 22lbs for stock. I figured I’d order the 5.5 & 8 psi pulleys & tuner along with the S/C kit. I’m not so much worried about gauges right now because I have Forscan and can monitor all parameters through that software for now. I will add gauges during my interior transformation of the truck. Still going through with this mod, just curious who’s used it. I’m not looking for a dragster, just a fun little truck to drive here and there. It’s a tribute truck for my son who was Murdered in 2019 and has still gone unsolved. Going to build it how he would’ve liked it.
I have the same kit. Upgraded the fuel pump and installed the 47lb injectors and have a wideband hooked up. Wanted to make sure I eliminated any gremlins there first. I used HP Tuners to calibrate my MAF and program the ECU for the larger injectors. So far everything seems to be running perfect.
I am looking to install the supercharger by the end of this month when I have a week off from work. I'll be running the 3.5 psi pulley at first. Just now ordering boost pressure sensor and manifold temperature sensor. Then I should be ready. When I decide to go to a smaller pulley I'll be installing the water meth kit. I really wanted the intercooler kit as well, but after doing some research. I feel the water meth injection is fine.
