Will it fit, yes. But, your ECU will go nuts missing some of the sensors. You will need to keep the lower intake, so if there is not one there, you will have to get one. There are other issues, these are some of the major ones.

Welcome to the forum

2001 Ranger was a transition year for the 4cyl engines
Early 2001 had 2.5l SOHC Lima engine
2001 July and later, had the 2.3l DOHC Duratec engine

In either case, NO..........a 1994 2.3l SOHC Lima can not be swapped without several changes to the 2001 system, which would not be worth the time or money

2.3l Duratec can only be swapped with a 2001-2011 2.3l Duratec
2001 2.5l Lima can only be swapped with a 1995-2001 2.3l/2.5l Lima engine

The 1989-1994 2.3l Lima had a different crank sensor which can not be easily changed to work with a 1995 and up PCM(engine computer)
