So I've finally gotten to add a Ranger to my arsenal of vehicles, and as usual, I've put a cb in it. After installing the little Cobra 19 Ultra 3 in between the visors, I was contacted by a friend to haul their trailer two hours down the coast, to the opposite side of Long Beach. In the midst of the trip (A 3 vehicle trip, CB contact), one side of my cb pulled out of the roof. During a stop, I put it back up, and it didnt have many issues, as I stopped returning my mic to the mount on the side. Next morning, I came out to my Ranger, and it had completely fallen down. I like the idea of having it there, but aside from drilling holes in my roof, I don't know how to mount it, and have it stay put.
Anyone got any better tips on how to keep this put?
I take it you just used some screws to mount the bracket up to the headliner.
If you just want to remount it, you need some type of "backer" to do it properly. Easiest way is to use a thin piece of plywood or thin veneer, maybe 1/8 inch thick.
It only has to be a small piece like 3 inches x 6 inches.
Take the sun visor hold clips down, and lightly pull the headliner down enough to slide the piece of wood into the opening, Hold it in place and use some small self tapping screws to remount the bracket.
The piece of wood will give the bracket something to "grab" and provide a secure backer for the bracket.
