Where u mount your CB?

We have a whip thread, now for the CB mounting thread.

I have both, tho a crappy antenna, and a decent CB i bought years ago. Since I am totally bored out of my mind, and am pretty much useless at this point, waxing my truck is getting pretty boring. so, this is something i might conquer in days to come, so, like the title says, where di yall put ur cb's?

I mounted mine on the jack cover. I only use mine for the P/A feature now-a-days so I took off my antenna, but it was on the roof attached by the magnetic base.

I need to put mine on the roof so I can here it better. It went from under the airbag switch to laying on the floor in the extra cab area.

Before I did my bucket conversion, I used the left-over MDF from my sub-box and built a console just the size of the CB to hold it at a 60 degree angle from the floor. This keeps it out of the glare and places it within perfect reach. I put some quick-connects on my power and ground wires, so if I need the space I just unscrew the antenna wire and disconnect the power and set the whole CB and console in my garage.

Now that I have bucket seats, the console fits perfectly behind the cup-holder console and isn't in the way of drinks at all.

I covered it with left-over carpet from the sub box too. I used one large square and stapled it to the flat surface on top and made a pocket out of it. It's perfect for holding pens, receipts, and other small objects that usually get lost or blow around with the windows down.

I also mounted my microphone to the top edge of the console. In all, it's very handy to have the CB out of the way, yet within reach. It's even nicer being able to remove it if I happen to go somewhere and need the space, or if I'm going to be parking the truck somewhere for any extended period of time.

Make sure you secure your antenna wire with zip-ties wherever you put it!

That'd look cool mounted right beside a matching red 4D cell Mag-Lite with the clips available from Underdog! (plug plug plug)

Mine is attached to the back of the console. You can't see it from the driver's side, but you can reach back there to turn it on/off and switch all the stuff. I just change it by feel. The microphone usually sits between the passenger side of the console and the passenger seat. Works perfectly for me and is out of the way. I used some heavy-duty Velcro to mount it so I didn't even have to drill any holes.

I have a single cab and I have it right on the back of the cab...like behind the console thing. I wouldn't put it there if you have extended cab...

Just like Kyle's (Gearhead)!

Ranger Danger,

Where did you find those radios; especially that Hy Gain II with circular channel selector & microphone with DIN connector ????
Haven't seen radios like that in years.... Looks like great little radios for trail use....
My radio of choice is an ICOM 706 MKIIG HF radio that allows me to talk on 2 meter, 10 & 11 meter....
The radio has a remote mount kit for the face plate that allows you to mount the face plate and microphone in a small very accessible location.

We had them and probably more layin around at the farm, the HyGain II I found in the shop in original box never even opened. I also found an old Realistic (23 channel, LSB & USB, yep sideband), all it needs is a mic and fuse and she's good to use. I'm not exactly sure what you meant by "DIN" connector (not familiar with some CB terms)? Thanks for the compliment.

Where did you buy your CB? Is it available on WalcottCB.com? Looks pretty crazy, I didn't know they made CB with "modern" technology. I should have added that the HyGain II has a PA output.

The original box with manuals for both 23 & 40 channel versions -
