AC recharge?

95 ranger, AC not being cold never bothered me but if it’s as easy as a 50$ recharge kit, I might as well give it a try? Anyone had success?

Might not be a cure all, but definitely worth a try.
Last summer, I bought a large can of freon that has the hose and gauge with it. I think I got it at Wal-Mart.
Recharged the system with it and its been blowing cold ever since.

The problem with these, is that you don't know the exact charge of your system. Is it completely empty of refrigerant? Or is there some in there? When you turn on the AC does it even get a little cooler coming out the vents?

Refrigerant shouldn't just disappear. If it does there is a leak somewhere and you need to fix it first, otherwise your can of refrigerant just leaks out again. For the sake of money just buy a single can of r134a and a hose hookup. Look at your label under the hood for your AC charge, it will be in ounces, and add that amount from your can. If it's warm again a few minutes/hours/days down the road then you need to get the leak repaired. On a truck of that vintage it may cost more than the truck is worth to fix.

FYI I work in residential hvac and car systems are almost identical.
