Instrument Cluster Bulb Colors

Hey guys, new to the forum but I had a quick question. To start I'll say I've been through a lot of the threads to find my proper bulb size (as I have an 07). I was able to find my cluster online so I know how many bulbs I need to order. I have 1 blown on my speedometer so I wanted to switch everything to LED while its apart. I know I need 10 #74s for the cluster and some for the ac controls while I'm at it, my question is, is there a tint film to make the light a certain color through the panel? For example if I order all white LEDs, will my idiot lights be white or their proper colors? Just trying to figure out how many of what color I need, and if anyone has input as to how the gauges themselves will look with white. I don't mind the green looking gauges but I'm not opposed to them changing either. Any info would be great, just trying to order what I need BEFORE ripping open the dash!

I attached an example of my cluster for reference

The warning/idiot lights are all white bulbs, they have a colored plastic icon cover

There are 6 back light bulbs that come on when you turn on the headlights/parking lights
You can use any color LED you want to change the look of the cluster when lights are on

Google: ford ranger dash light color bulbs images

Click in the link to see what clusters look like with colored bulbs
I think your year will have a green tint on the glass for the back light bulbs, so changing color will have a combo effect unless you remove the green tint first

I have found that the Gauge Faces have a frosted look after removing the coloring on the back fo each gauge face.

Doesn't sound like a problem but a RED paint, that I wanted, ends up having a pinkish look. I wanted RED but decided against the repainting process; my end result was ordering new gauge faces with the color I wanted already molded in.

LED are nice on the system but the light output doesn't spread the same as incandescent bulbs. Sometimes, dependent on color, the gauge panel ends up with hot spots.

Unless you are offended by the green characters, stick with OEM Coloring it will look better in the long run.

OPTION: There are replacement Gauge Faces out there, if you find one of the companies that actually makes Gauge Faces for your Ranger, you can order them in the coloring you want and even add a logo of some sort.

I order new gauge faces from a Vermont Company, RED lettering, RED coloring is the prominent, and the Blue SVO logo is something I liked when I saw it on their Site. this guy made me a set of gauge faces for a '97 Ranger Speed-O centered, no Tach, for my 2003 EDGE, but although RonD, the Man, has helped me get a grip on my wiring, I haven't installed it yet. Me Bad !
If you plan on replacing the Gauge Faces, I can look up the company name and number for you to check it out ! I found his work to be really good !
