I had the "pleasure" of replacing my thermostat housing on my B4000. It turned into a shitshow of a job due to a bolt stripping after seizing to the brass sleeve. In the process, I hit this part with the ratchet and it fell apart in my hands. What part is it? I cannot find it for the life of me on RockAuto. In the spirit of finishing the job, I went to the junk yard and pulled it off another Ranger for the time being. Can anyone help identify the part? It sits above the thermostat housing and seems to be connected to the plenum.
It's funny, I had the same experience with the thermostat bolts freezing to the sleeve in the thermostat housing. I forgot to put something on them to prevent it in the future, but I wish I had smeared some grease or rtv on them.
Also, that part is the heated PCV.

I put some silver anti seize on the bolts just in case I will ever have to pull it off again. It will likely go to the junkers with this part on it now, so I'm not so worried. The original part lasted 350,000KM!!
Thanks for your info on the part!
EDIT: After I got looking I don't think this is the PCV valve. That looks like an entirely different part but I could be wrong, I'm no mechanic.

Yeah, it's a little misleading. The Component in question is the recieving end of the drivers side valve cover PCV. It goes into the intake manifold. The actual PCV valve is the one in the driver side valve cover. This is just where all those hot oily gasses get blown into your intake.

Valve cover part # 2L5Z6A666BA
Intake manifold valve part # 6L5Z-9A474-A
That's the one! Many thanks for your help. Turns out it's discontinued, so I probably did the best thing yesterday by going to the junkyard and finding a decent used one. It had all its paint still, so in much better shape than the one I pulled off haha

Was this PCV part for the DOHC or the OHV 4.0 liter engine?
Either way you gotta love that Ford discontinued the part. Perhaps there's a genericized replacement available.
Also, at the valve cover where the PCV valve is mounted, is the fitting the PCV goes into replaceable? Since it's a plastic part I assume it'll shrink over time and leak.

It's for the 4.0 SOHC.
It fit directly into the intake manifold/plenum behind the throttlebody and is held in with 2 small bolts (passenger side). The manifold is plastic but I'm not so worried about leaks as I think it is just gasses in that tube and the o-ring fit snugly. All the coolant is in steel lines and is only used to heat the tube from my understanding.
Anyone please correct me if I am wrong.
My truck is back up and running on the used parts and I haven't seen any leaks yet but I'll keep my eye out. Hopefully this isn't a common problem and many more people run into it as seems that part is fairly scarce now!
