New to the Ranger forums and just bought my first truck a few months ago. It's an '89 Ranger XLT. 2.9L v6. 4x4. manual transmission. I've been having some issues with leaks. Recently had a lot of work done including oil pan gasket replacement and had the radiator fluid flushed and replaced.
Today I noticed both a coolant and an oil spot underneath the truck. I think I have an idea about the oil leak - it seems like it's still coming from the oil pan gasket...
I think I located the source of the coolant leak to where the radiator hose goes into the engine (I believe that is the thermostat?). The overflow tank is empty but there I can see the top of the coolant level in the radiator. Although, the level looks down a bit. I checked the oil from the dipstick and it looks fine - I don't think there has been any mixing of coolant and oil. Really hoping I can go ahead and cross blown head gasket off the list of possible issues.
I'm going to take it in to the shop but just want to know if this looks serious or if there is anything I else I can do to troubleshoot at this point. I'm still learning about the truck so any tips or advice would be very much appreciated.
Here are pictures of where I think the source is:
I followed the leak down the (right) side of the engine and found two spots underneath where it is dripping.
It is pooling up here:
There's also a spot dripping at the back of the oil pan (towards end of truck). I think this is just because I 'm parked on a hill so the flow of the leak separated into two streams. But you can also see the oil pan has oil dripping from it too....
