96 Ranger electrical help
The steering wheel has 2 horn buttons, either GROUNDS the Horn Relay to activate the horn
I assume you have tested the horn FIRST by applying 12volts to its connector........................
If horn works then see if Fuse in engine fuse box is OK, #4 20amp
In 1996 the Horn relay is also in the engine fuse box, should be at the end, diagram here: https://ww2-secure.justanswer.com/up...5_151443_1.gif
Top right, you can swap it with Wiper relay(assuming wipers work, lol) and see if its a bad relay
If horn relay works in wiper location this relay was fine
Then you are unfortunately down to Clock Spring issue and/or wires in steering column
There should be a Yellow/light green stripe wire in the steering column, if that wire is grounded the Horn should go on
And there will be a Black/white stripe which is the Ground for the clockspring
The buttons in the steering wheel connects these two wires together to activate the horn relay
Horn system has 12volts all the time, so its not a key on system, should work anytime battery is connected

I found the horns!
So I am still having an electrical issue with the horn. We suspect it may be a wiring issue. My neighbor says it's probably in the cab.
So does anyone here know how much a standard cab weighs without the doors on?
Will 2 men and a strong boy be able to lift it?
