2008 Ford Ranger Hi Low Relay
2008 Ford Ranger Hi Low Relay
Hi,
I'm trying to find the model number of the hi Lo windshield wiper and fluid relays used in a 2008 ford ranger.
Someone swiped mine from my truck, presumably because they so couldn't find the part number, so I've got nothing to go by.
It should fit in slot 45A and 45B.
Kind regards,
Dom

Owners manual for 2008 Ranger shows the wiper / washer is controlled by a 30 amp fuse in location # 29 in the underhood power distribution box.
Shows position 45 A/B are not used.
Shows position 45 A/B are not used.

Like Grumpa says, check the 30 amp fuse in slot 29
Or the 5 amp fuse in slot #5 in the smart junction box behind the passenger side kick panel.
And if the fuse is OK, I would suspect your multi function switch is bad.

Nobody stole them, those are unused slots, nothing there to steal,

You're right, those slots aren't used. Weird the fuse documentation online said slot 45A and B was for washer relays.
I checked the fuse in the kick panel, and the fuse in the engine was compartment. Both work perfectly fine.
(aka I swapped them with other 5amp and 30amp fuses and the problem remains).
You say to look at the multi function switch?
Is there a way I can test that? (as the blinker controls still work)
Kind regards,
Dom
I'm not aware of a way to test the switch....maybe someone else will jump in with a way.
It is possible to have some functions of the switch work, like turn signals or high beams, while others, like the wipers/washer don't.

Not for nothing but I am seeing the whole shebang of wiper/washer electronics being INSIDE the wiper motor housing, even the washer relay
See below diagram
2010 but 2008 is the same, looks like 2008-2011 use the same part
Could be the multi-function switch, but in my experience all functions don't fail if multi-function switch starts to fail, some things work others don't, like washer still works, or low works but not intermittent
I would unplug the wiper motor connector and test voltages on the power wires in diagram
and the Ground from multi-function switch in the different settings
My best "guess" would be wiper motor electronics issue in this case

I'll see if I can prod around the connection to make sure it's still functioning, and then look around for a salvage part to stick in there!
I'll keep you updated if I figure it out :)
