Does anybody know the best engine for a engine swap? I’m not looking for the best engine with the most horsepower just an engine that has more horsepower that I can still be able to modify. Budget 3,000 thought about ls engine but need opinions

 

The Ford 302(5.0l) is probably the most reliable and modifiable engine Ford ever made, lol
And it fits in a Ranger engine bay

LS is a popular engine for Ranger swaps but there are several versions of this engine

The 302 has these dimensions, 27.5" long, 20.75" tall, 18.75" wide
And the 302 barely fits between heater box and steering shaft, and under the hood of a Ranger

So get the dimensions of any engine you are considering
Heater box and steering shaft can be moved/modified
A body lift can be done to get more clearance under the hood
Exhaust pipes can be run outside the frame rails
Custom Radiator can be installed in front of rad support for more length

And remember....................you will need to SERVICE any installed engine down the road
You don't want to have to pull the engine to change spark plugs, lol
