2003 woes
2003 woes
I have a 2003 ranger edge 3.0. When you get up to about 50 mph its starts bucking and losing power. Also check engine light flashes. The first shop gave up. The ford dealership diagnosed it as internal engine problems. So I spent $3000 replacing the engine and it still does the same thing. I'm at my wits and wallets end. Can anyone please help?
What were the codes from the flashing check engine light? A flashing check engine light generally means a misfire(s). Since this is a new engine and it is still misfiring, something that was re-used on the new engine is causing the misfire. Could be the coil pack, could even be the computer itself. But we need to know the codes it's flashing before we can even guess.
Yes, what were the codes
Internal engine problems.............that covers alot of ground, if CEL was flashing then most likely issue would be exhaust valves causing loss of compression, which just means new heads, which could be called an "internal engine problem" but not by any mechanic I ever meet, they would call it a head issue
If you put in a used 3.0l engine then it may have the same issue, not common but a known issue on the 3.0l especially 2004-2006 time frame
