97 Ranger 2.3 PCV valve hose question

I had to replace my pcv valve on my '97 Ranger 2.3L. As most will know there are two stems that are on the pcv valve. the top stem is open and causing a leak. When I plugged it the vacuum leak stopped and the truck idles fine. My question is, is there supposed to be two hoses coming off the pcv valve or is this supposed to just be capped like I have it now. I would also like to say I am a new member and I am sorry if I didn't post this properly.

Universal PCV Valves will have 2 hose connections, a smaller and larger hose connection, and it will usually come with a cap for smaller one
Most vehicles just use the larger hose connection, so smaller one would be capped

Smaller one can be used to add a vacuum device, as needed
