idles fine but dies when given gas
So I have a 1997 ford ranger 4.0 v6 xlt and it idles and drives fine but every once in a while when i give it gas real quick and let it go real quick it dies. Would any of you know why this would be happening?

More info
Does it only do this when Cold?
Or only when warmed up?
Or engine temp doesn't matter?
Manual or automatic trans?
When engine is cold and started, is the idle high, 1,000rpms, and does the idle slow drop down as engine warms up, and idle at 750rpms when fully warmed up
