fuel tank swap
fuel tank swap
Im trying to put a 99 tank in a 2001 3.0 ranger super cab. The filler necks are different as well as the filler hose and vent. Anyone else done this and know what issues i might run into?
Yes, Ford changed from 2 separate hoses to 2 hose one inside the other over the years
You just need to change filler to match the tank, and the bed type
Two pipe seen here: https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/..._AC_SY355_.jpg
One pipe seen here: https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/..._AC_SY355_.jpg
Regular beds have longer filler, stepside bed shorter
In the one pipe style the larger tube is the Vent, the smaller longer one inside, is the filler, where the gas comes in

So i checked the filler neck on both and they both have an external vent. The diameter i of the 01 is smaller on the filler neck and the vent tube than the 99. I also found the positioning flags on the sending unit plug are clocked different. I am asking the original question because im traveling 4 hours each way to do this job with what i can carry with me. Thanks for the help.
