Fuel line whoopsie…

Hey All!
Grandson has a 2001 Ranger 2WD with 4cyl/5spd, and while using a cutoff wheel to cut the top shock mount free on the front drivers side I managed to slice through a fuel line (long story…) and the section I cut is apparently stainless steel and approximately .32 OD… quick fix was short length of 1/4” fuel line and clamps, but it keeps slipping off due to there not being any kind of crimp or flare to stop it from happening.
Don’t have a brake line tubing flare tool, so was wondering if a 3/8” brass flare union (like what’s used in household plumbing) would work? I have a flare tool for that…

The ID of the flare fitting seemed to be around .388 so not sure if that’s too much of a gap?

OR, alternatively, any other suggestions? Called Ford with VIN and that particular fuel line is no longer available…

Thanks in advance!!
