This would be my first post here. I purchased a ford ranger in 2013 approx in montreal. I never knew if my truck was stolen or not and dear god i hope it wasn't as i purchased it cash and even signed an agreement on paper with the person that sold it to me and nowadays in 2023, i would just sue the person. Otherwise, i love my truck. But i've had non-stop issues with the electricity where it is approx the third or fourth++ batteries that i put in it.
So today i had to call a shop to get myself a battery and i ask for a good one if possible and give them my standard motomaster battery i believe from canadian tire where i don't even care if there was a warranty or not on it even. So after he brings the battery, i ask him if it's good enough for a Ford Ranger V6 3.0L for the hard winters of minus 20 degrees here that we have in the quebec province of canada. And twice did they assure me that it was perfectly fine and that i wouldn't have any issues with it in winter.
Twice i was told that it was going to be enough. I purchased a:
Batteries Expert model 86-Bolt
12v
CCA550
CA680
FormatGR86
AH50
Was i fooled twice? As now for the second time, i have a voice recording of when i was present there and i would litterally not care of sending that to the protection office of consumer if in any cases, that this battery don't even fit the standards for a pickup truck especially in hard winters. I wanted to get the opinion of the original Ford dealer on a battery that doesn't fit the compartment because it's too small and it's going to move around and i will call them, but i want to know first, was i fooled twice? in a row. Because i went back there again and asked questions of front and again they said it was fine in winter here.
thank you for your help,
steve

I don't really care that it doesn't fit the compartment of my ranger. What i care about, is, it is a very good battery for rangers V6 3.0L and hard winters, or did the mecanic fool me, and then did his boss fool me? That would be 2 strikes already, in the same day, for a provider of used parts, and dude says he doesn't want to lose customers that's why they wouldn't tell them lies. But rotten is rotten sometimes, so i just want to know, were just my thoughts rotten, or did i really fall in a rotten used car parts dealer? It think it's borderline for a V6 3.0L.
Thank you for your answer. I have been trying to see this positively for the last 10 mins before you posted your post, relooking at my purchase, and i was able to, thinking now it's my battery regardless if it's the wrong one as i was able to drive with it and get from point a to point b. And, i am thinking of checking some raspberry pi projects to see if i can "enhance" anything out of it, as it just cost me 50.59$, i've been fooled once with paint for the frame on my ford ranger, it didn't cost me a lot but in the end it was a full frame sandblast with removing the bed that i had done myself. I don't really like it to be taken for a fool. But i think i would be a fool to let the opportunity pass, to have a batteries expert battery in my car for the first time in my life. Those were always too pricy albeit the lesser CA and lesser CAA that it has compared to the OEM.
So i guess, i had remnants of bad practices and old memories just slipping through. Well, this post is here. In any case, i will repost here this winter if i remember this, and try and start it in the worst of cold weathers and repost back the results. I am so eager to do that in the worst of weathers because i like winter. I'm gonna try and work a bit on the electricity issues to give it a chance as it has extra features like cold cranking. So maybe he gave me what i needed in the end. Something that gives me a project to work on with electronics. Right. Let's have fun in life and get tiny batteries for big cars and big batteries for small cars! yay! Yeah cold weather! yep. It's right there i see it too it says in their publicity it's good for cold weather. Everyone loves in their free time to do something that they are forced to do like enhance a battery because in very cold procedural winters here in quebec, it's always stable and there are no days at minus 30 degrees celsius!

Car/truck batteries last 5 years or so, in cold climates can be just 4 years, just physics, all batteries hate the cold, sucks the life out of them
You can pay a lot more to get an extra year or two, but usually not worth it in the long run in Quebec
And this is based on vehicle being driven at least 50kms each day, so engine warms up the engine bay and the battery can charge up a bit, cold also makes it hard for a battery to charge up
If you just do short trips then plan on changing the battery every 3 years
Block heaters help a lot, engine bay and battery can stay a bit warmer
Remote start helps as well to get engine bay warmed up

thank you for the help. my truck usually stayed in the parking lot and driven once per week or two weeks, and on top of that there are electrical wires still of an attempt of an earlier owner to have installed electric doors, which i though i had completely removed but there might be still some. The wires weren't properly installed without electrical insulation and were touching the metal frame. Not sure if that was an issue and it was all connected behind the radio. I had uninstalled those wires. If i can help that batterie and get rid of the rest of the electrical issues, maybe that one will last longer than the others. And i should start the car at least once per 2-3 days minimum i guess for 10-15 minutes if that would be enough?
Are you sure you bought a new battery ? Or is it a used battery?
MSRP for that battery new is $179.95 Canadian
thank you for the help. It is a used battery. It wasn't cleaned up. I asked for the best for my truck. Gave me that. I was happy it was a doctor battery as i never had that brand before and they told me it was enough for a ford ranger and that it was as standard even at the dealership. I knew nothing of batteries. I know a little bit more now.
Anyway, i sent them the audio recording through facebook and told them that maybe the next step is a complaint to the office of consumer protection, unless i receive apologies for the bullshit he told me in front of all of his employees regarding that battery. This is not a direct replacement fit for a ford ranger 2004 OEM... Anyway i am keeping this battery and testing it for 3 months for the warranty duration.
If i decide to keep the battery after 3 months, and test it this winter, i will come back here and post the results. Maybe i can use my 3d printer Ender 3 to create some battery supports for the side of that battery so that it remains solid in place. It's the least i could do, those 2 things.
It goes on the Negative Battery terminal, ONLY
Easy to install
When you will be parking it for a week or more twist the green **** two or three times, battery is now disconnected so no drains
When you go back pop the hood and tighten it

thank you for the help. Wow, i never knew that existed. I am now purchasing that soon. thanks
... i made a mistake. so i sent them the facebook message below
