1987 Ranger 2.0 - Cannot find correct fuel sending unit

I have a 1987 Ranger 2.0, and the gas gauge is reading E. that was not an issue, as we just used the trip setting on the odometer, But now I believe the fuel pump went to, as it will not run above an idle without stalling. I ordered the "correct" part from Rock Auto. The unit I received has 2 tubes coming out, and the electrical connector has 4 "prongs".
The unit on my truck appears to have only 1 tube, and the electrical connector has just 2 "prongs">
When I look for this parts on any website, the pictures don't match what I have. Do I have some unicorn of a truck or did someone replace this with an incorrect part # in the past?
Since I already took the bod off and want to replace everything at one I'm at a standstill.

Welcome to the forum

1987 Ranger with 2.0l would still use a carburetor, 2 barrel, so just needed a Lift Pump in the gas tank and no return line

Your assembly would look more like this: https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/HQYAA...yo/s-l1200.jpg

Not the straight up and down unit in the picture you have

As long and its 1983 to 1988 the sender and pump will be correct, but electrical connector might be different
If there are only 2 wires on your connector then there is no pump in the gas tank, just the sender, there would be a mechanical pump on the engine

And don't worry about the 2nd fuel connection, its for a return line for a fuel injected engine, so just plug it/cap it for use on your 2.0l Carbureted engine
The gas tanks were the same, 1983-1988, so unless you found "new old stock" all new replacements will have the 2nd connection since it will work on fuel injection or carb models, much like replacement radiators all come with trans coolers, if you have a manual trans you just don't hook it up, lol

Ford changed all models sending(fuel gauge) units in 1989 and up

They are no longer made, of course, well OEM

1988 and earlier used 73 to 10 ohm senders, so 1989 and up will not work with your fuel gauge

Google: 73-10 ford sending unit

Maybe you can find one that will work
You can some times replace the 73-10 ohms sender with a new one, custom work

I have not found a replacement yet - I will look into that option.
