I would like to put in an 07 wheel in my 03 ranger, I got the wheel from a junkyard truck (airbag included!!) and I believe the new wheel works. Upon taking the old airbag off I realized the connectors are not the same. I have the 07 wheel and clockspring but I think the clock spring is fucked, but I can still use the connectors.
mom wondering what wires do I connect to what to get the old clockspring to work with the new wheel? I’ve heard that the later ones have one more wires for power to the horn, could I just tap that off the lights like on the 03 wheel?
(03 wheel top, 07 bottom) I would just try to connect the old clockspring ez-pz but the wires inside the 03 wheel are all grey so I don’t know which ones to hook up where, could I maybe get some advice on what to do? Or maybe the wiring diagram for the 5-pin connector for the 03 and the 6 pin on the 07?
The 03 has 5 wires at the connector that aren’t color coded The 07 has 6 wires at the connector that are color coded Though I have noticed which one to plug the airbag into 😂 at least some wires match colors
if I could just figure out how to connect the cruise control from the 07 wheel to the 03 clockspring, the airbag would be almost a direct hookup. My only problem is the 03 with grey internal wiring, if it wasn’t for that I don’t think this would be that hard …
I'm gonna go ahead and suggest that you purchase the factory wiring diagrams for both years on Ebay. They're relatively cheap and will answer this better than anybody here probably could.
I'm also locking the thread because the 2004-2011 airbags are under an active recall for explosion and shrapnel hazards and I am not allowing this to be a discussion thread for what could possibly endanger a life.
