1998 Ranger/Mazda B2500 Battery Dead

This is a battery drain solution. I am posting this because nowhere could I find this solution in all the forums.

PROBLEM: Truck would always kill/drain the battery if not driven at least weekly. After years and many troubleshooting hours spent taking readings, disconnecting the battery on and on….

I went to O’Reilly and asked for a “Battery Saver Relay” for 1998 Mazda B2500

They had two options and I got them both. The one described below fixed it. It installs under the glove box, right in the front middle.

Numbers on the box are
RY214 Relay/Relais Rele
and under the barcode…
0 91769 18164 2

Hope this helps.

New relay… all numbers shown. No other markings on device.

Old original relay. See next photo for more numbers.

Old original relay with Ford Part# on “top”.
