2009 PCM fuse woe's
I have a 2009 ford ranger, 2.3 auto that on occasion will have the PCM power fuse (#39) blow while driving. The truck will stay running but will be very finicky when you try to apply throttle and will stall. This has happened twice. I am curious as to what may cause this as in both instances i was on a smooth paved road when it occurred. I have checked visually and do not see any wire damage that would cause a short. any ideas? when this initially happened i had teh ford dealer take it and they had it for 3 weeks, it had no codes. they replaced the PCM, TPS and crank sensor at which point I trailered it back to the house. I took it to a small repair shop which is who discovered the blown fuse. truck ran fine, i took it home and it happened again on the way home. I replaced the fuse and have not driven it since. I put a meter on the truck today with it off and found there is constant power to a few fuses, PCM keep alive #21, fuel pump motor #23, AC clutch solenoid #25 and the wiper motor #29. is that normal? its a great little truck, I am at a loss as to what could be causing this. any help is appreciated. it only has happened while driving.
