Airbag light stuck
Dear Forum,
I have a bought a Ranger 2.2 XL year 2014 assembled in South Africa and imported to Spain.
The airbag light has been on constantly, and I failed the periodic inspection on this. I got the vehicle serviced by an authorized Ford dealer who changed first the driver's side/knee airbag.... then the controller.... three weeks on the light is back and my confidence in the garage gone.
I noticed the light began as intermittent and now is solid. It sometimes disappears when I go uphill on my mountain track, only to reappear when going downhill again. Now it seems to be completely stuck in the sequence of intermittent for about 30 sec, then solid. I'm pretty sure the garage just changed parts without getting the problem sorted, and it sure smells like an electrical issue to me. My track is concreted, so lots of small vibrations when we go on it. No heavy handling, nor off-road action since the purchase, so not crash sensor related.
I am looking at a possible OBC II reader to attempt to clear the fault long enough to pass the next inspection. I have looked at the ANCEL BD310, but not sure if it's worth doing this.
Any thoughts or wiring checks you guys can recommend will be greatly appreciated. I'm a solar installer, so DC wiring and diagnostic isn't a problem for me.
Btw, I already found a few related threads, and I'm very happy to have found this forum. Always a privilege to encounter generous knowledge.
Yours sincerely,
Jim
