A/C Issue

Hello Ranger Forum,

I have a 2004 Mazda B3000 with 3.0l engine at 196k miles.

When driving no issues with the AC, but as soon as you stop and the car idles AC is no longer cold.

You can hear a loud click every 20 seconds or so and engine bay will rumble a bit as if something tries to turn on and fails. No A/C work has ever been done on this truck including adding freon.

Before taking to a A/C shop, I want to post of the forum for any ideas on why the A/C stops blowing cold air at idle?

Thanks,

Jeff

The click every 20 seconds sounds like the compressor is cycling, likely due to low refrigerant.

Thank you nelbur for the reply. The problem ended up being the IAC. Once it was cleaned, the truck idled without stalling and the A/C started blowing cool at idle.
